Shopping at Christmas can be difficult, the high street is saturated with presents that all look the same, people follow the latest trends in gift giving and to be honest? It can become a little stale!
So why not shake things up and shop independently this Christmas? Not only will you be getting something unique you will also be helping to support a small business. I’ve rounded up over 100 Scottish Independent designers for you to shop this Christmas.
From jewellery to homeware, stationery and menswear there is something on this list for the pickiest of friends. And I’m sure you’ll find a present or two for yourself aswell!
Raven Chocolate – Vegan chocolate at it’s finest. Raven only use minimal ingredients; cacao, sugar and cocoa butter as their 3 main ingredients, adding in extras only for flavour it’s a chocolate lovers dream.
Abmr by Cup – Created by a Glaswegian tea house and offering a massive variety of tea mixtures. Ambr teas are all hand blended in small batches, my favourites are the peppermint & the Masala Chai.
Thom & Tea – Tea for the Tea Lover! Thom & Tea offer a wide range of teas, their tagline is “think the depth of loose leaf, without all the drama.”
Dear Green Coffee – Ethically sourced from sustainable coffee-producing communities & roasted in Glasgow, Deer Green have become something of a firm favourite in Glaswegian coffee shops & with seasonal coffee sourced from Costa Rica, Kenya & Ethiopia it’s no surprise!
Nikki McWilliams – Got a Biscuit lover in the house? The Nikki McWilliams is the girl for you! Along with prints, pin badges, washi tape and patches, Nikki also makes cushions & passport covers. Perfect for those with a sweet tooth.
Lola Polooza Designs – Is there anything better than some band knowledge? Yes, a colouring book full of Glasgow’s favourite music venues with facts about every venue! Did you know that Oasis were discovered in King Tuts? Or that Bowie owned a star from the Barrowlands? The perfect gift for that music lover in your life.

Neil Slorance – Looking for political satire? Look no further! Neil sells comic books, prints and cards all with adorable designs. My favourite is definitely how to be a ghost.
Doris Does Doodles – Bright illustrated stationary will put a smile on anyone’s face this Christmas.
Lady Kerry – From cute Christmas cards to adorable pin badges and notebooks, Lady Kerry illustrates cute animals, puns & food, the best trio!
Karen Mabon – Karen Mabon creates the most adorable scarves and pjs. Illustrated by Karen herself, each illustration tells its own story, whether that be curious creatures, nostalgia-fuelled memories or characters acting out scenes from an old, forgotten film.
Emily Millichip – Emily’s ‘bags 4 lyf’ take shopping to a whole new chic level. These colourful creations & kitsch designs will make sure shopping becomes a treat & not a chore.
XOXO Designs By Ruth – Ruth is inspired by pattern, flowers, space and typography. Oh and not to mention cute animals!
Hand Over your Fairy Cakes – The sassiest feminist pin badges known to man, with some cute pastel notebooks, pop culture references and all handmade in Glasgow!
Sally Ann Provan – Avant Garde but still completely wearable millinery. Sally trained under the late Queen Mother’s milliner & creates beautiful statement hats.
William Chambers – With Berets back in fashion the first place on your shopping list this Christmas should be William Chambers. The Glasgow based Millner creates stunning hats and headwear.
Charcot – Accessories and Jewellery made using the patterns from owner Kirtsy’s MRI scans. Kirtsy suffers from MS and turns it into art using print and pattern.
Mimi Hammill – Based in Aberdeen Mimi creates beautiful, colourful scarves. These are not for the wallflower and will add a statement to any outfit!
Claire Barclay Draws – One of my all-time favourite illustrators, Claire creates pop culture jewellery, prints, tote bags and cards. The cute as fuck tote bag and the bowie print have to be my favourites.
The Bell Wether – Making craft supplies cute, the Bell Wether makes adorable cross stitch kits, keyrings and framed quotes.
Sleekit – Brightly coloured scarves, phone cases and tote bags made in Scotland.
Spilth Design – Accessories hand knitted in Dundee, perfect stocking fillers. I love the knitted boobs!
Studio 5 – Ethical and organic fashion and textiles brand inspired by the natural world based in Scotland. Studio 5 have recently collaborated with Joanna O’Brien for a scarf collection. Each piece is completely unique, super cosy and sustainably sourced.
Lake and Loch – A lifestyle brand inspired by Scottish cities and the countryside that surrounds them. With enamel mugs, travel candles, hats & scarves this is the brand you need to make your Lochside trips a little cosier!
Textiles By April – Inspired by her love of Geology, April creates limited edition, digitally printed accessories.
Iolla – Revolutionising the way we buy glasses, Iolla offers Scottish designed frames, made in Europe. The best thing about the brand tho? All frames come with your prescription & only cost £65 for single vision lenses, with anti-scratch, anti-glare & thinning all included.
Rene Walrus – Rene Walrus is an award-winning luxury accessories brand creating modern hair adornments & accessories. These may be designed with a bride in mind, but each piece wouldn’t look amiss on a night out. The garbo headband is my all time favourite, perfect for Christmas day!
Ruth A Morrison – Ruth creates silver jewellery with offcuts of Harris Tweed to make beautiful limited edition items. Inspired by her home in the Outer Hebrides, the jewellery is sure to make a statement. The rings are especially beautiful,
Heather McDermott – Heather McDermott specialises in contemporary jewellery made from stainless steel & precious metals.
Katherine Agnew – Intricately patterned jewellery made all the more beautiful by precious stones. Katherine pierces the repeat patterns by hand, creating extremely personal, one-off pieces.
Kate McLaughlin – Taking inspiration from her architectural background, Kate creates stunning silver Jewellery. Using negative space as a construct the jewellery created is both chic & eye-catching.
Beth Lamont – Colourful & unusual ceramic jewellery made with the intention of creating pieces that stand out and make a statement about the wearer and their individual style.
Bonnie Bling – The ultimate in Scottish Slang jewellery, Bonnie Bling creates stand out pieces made from acrylic in her Glasgow studio. Also offering a range of homeware, Christmas decorations and accessories Bonnie Bling has all your acrylic needs covered.
Rhona McCallum – Sculptural, statement jewellery in silver and gold. Every single item has a hammered look with veins of silver or gold running through them, creating stunning statement pieces.
Katie Lees Jewellery – Is there anything better than statement rings? How about stackable statement rings? Katie creates the most stunning rings, perfect for that special someone.
Smith & Gibb – Chevrons, tassels & enamel, Smith & Gibb creates colourful, statement jewellery.
Scarlett Cohen French – Experimental enamel jewellery might not sound like something you need in your life, but trust me when I say that you will fall in love with this collection as soon as you lay eyes on it.
Jane Harrison Jewellery – Beautiful patterned Enamel Jewellery and silver cluster necklaces and rings.
And Lolita – Rubber jewellery is maybe not what you think of when you, well, when you think of anything really! And Lolita make amazing statement creations out of rubber. You have to see them to believe them.
Grainne Morton Jewellery – Ever dreamed of Avant guard earrings? Then Grainne Morton is the brand for you. The face earrings have to be my favourite pair.
Kirsten Manzi – Creates Simple Silver Jewellery inspired by architectural elements and bold geometric forms. The simple and clean lines of Kirsten’s work make it timeless & classic.
Jennifer Lemon Designs – Hand Painted monochrome Jewellery and Accessories made in Glasgow.
Lisa Crockard – Stackable silver rings, statement necklaces and elegant earrings, Lisa Crockard has something for all tastes.
Lynne MacLachlan – Stunning & unusual 3D printed jewellery, Lynne creates visual delights in her necklaces, rings and earrings. After studying aerospace engineering, Lynn created multi-material 3D jewellery that will definitely make a statement.
Appin and Third – Stunning and simple jewellery made in Leith in Edinburgh. Circular shapes and marble create an interesting contrast.
Marion Made Jewellery – Inspired by shapes, pattern and texture, contemporary designs are brought to life using sterling silver and 18ct yellow and rose gold vermeil with semi-precious stones.
Scarlett Erskine Jewellery -Scarlett creates both wearable and statement pieces – each with their own carefully crafted unique textures and character. I love the hammered finish on the oval necklace.
Eve Balashova – Creating jewellery with soft flowing curves and balancing between traditional hand skills and digital technology. Eve uses a mixture of 3d printed nylon and Sterling silver to bring her ideas to life.
Emma Louise Wilson – Simple and elegant jewellery that’s easy to wear for every day. Made from Enamel and Silver Emma creates pieces that will fit in seamlessly with your jewellery collection.
Sara Hill Make Up – Created by Award-winning makeup artist Sara Hill, inspired by fashion, club kids, pop culture and chain-smoking aunties, this is non-conformist, beauty that doesn’t patronise, apologise or explain. It’s a pop of bright orange lipgloss in a sea of beige, a smear of glitter in a room full of suits.
Lucky Cloud Skincare – A natural, vegan-friendly skin care company. I love the balancing face oil and the superbalm. Perfect for people with sensitive skin.
White Rabbit Skincare – A luxury vegan skincare company, based in Scotland and all handmade. Harnessing the therapeutic aspect of essential oils, base oils, butters and waxes, each of our products help to nourish and nurture your skin. Get the comfort cleansing balm, it’s the perfect stocking filler.
Beauty Kitchen – This Glaswegian brand sources innovative sustainable Beauty ingredients to create effective natural products and has taught over 5,000 people how to make their own along the way! I love the little tartan gift bags, they are made from Kilt offcuts and 100% unique!
Twa Burds Soaps – A Glasgow based Vegan-Friendly Artisan Soap Company, Twa Burds create beautiful soaps, bath bombs and bath salts.
A Pony Called Steve – Aside from having the best brand name ever, a pony called steve makes whimsical bath and body products out of your favourite smelling things. Love parma violets? There’s a range for you! More of an opal fruit gal? Steves got you covered. Or are you just sick of the grey weather and are praying for some sunshine? How about a bottle of sunscreen scented body lotion? It also helps that the packaging is completely adorable!
NAF Stuff – NAF isn’t just the hottest nail bar in Glasgow, it’s also an online store full of things to make your nails sparkle this Christmas. Nailcals are the perfect stocking filler, but the cuticle oil is the real hero. A combination of Vitamin E extract & Jojoba Oil will hydrate, nourish and lock in moisture while keeping your nails flexible. Oh and they also stock cute as hell t-shirts and hoodies, so you can get your nail obsessed bestie everything she needs in one place.
Reek Perfume – Reek was created to memorialise heroic, unapologetic woman through scent. Now I know it’s difficult to buy perfume as a gift, especially if you can’t smell it first but their Damn Rebel Bitches perfume is one that everyone will love. With hints of blood orange, hazelnut, sage & amber it’s light and musky all at once. The perfect present for the rebel bitch in your life.
Silken Favours – The ultimate in patterned homeware, Silken Favours creates cushions, wallpaper & scarves ranging from kittens riding unicorns to flying pigs. And who wouldn’t want a flying pig cushion in their life?
Pot Yer Tits Away Luv – Possibly the best name for a shop ever! Selling custom made ‘tit pots’ & ring holders (they are shaped like dicks btw) this is the perfect Christmas gift. Use the pots for plants or paperclips, but whatever you do, make sure you buy yourself one too!
Solway Silver – Currently a jewellery designer, Sybil is currently making her way into homeware with limited edition lamps inspired by the Scottish Countryside.
Gold Hart Candles – Luxury scented candles capture a journey through the wild, yet romantic habitat of Scotland. The Amber scent is the perfect Christmas candle, based on a wildflower laden woodland enhanced by mellow top notes of spice.
Mairi Helena – Stunning printed homeware with a strong nod to Scottish Heritage. Lampshades and cushions might not be at the top of everyone’s wishlist, but when they are this beautiful they will be cherished!
Blue Belle Gray – The perfect gift for a colourful home! Watercolour prints on everything from bed linens to rugs, and everything in-between. They even do wallpaper so you can coordinate everything.
Devine Gunn – Homeware with a feminist twist? I’m sold. Screen printed in Glasgow the store sells everything from cushions and prints to tea towels and tote bags.
Studio Emma – Who knew concrete could be so pretty? Each piece is carefully hand cast in Emma’s studio with many pieces still moulded using found or recycled materials. Each product is completely unique in its colour, texture and design. Grab an eye-catching clock or a mini plant pot for your loved one.
KCM Print – Stunning abstract printed homeware from recently graduated duo Kim & Cat. The cushions and prints are perfect for that colour loving friend and the fact that you can match print to cushion is just the icing on the cake!
Emily Sian Hart – I love crochet, and I love plants, so it was pretty clear I was going to become obsessed with Emily’s crocheted plants! These come in all shapes and sizes and are PERFECT for the plant lover who can’t seem to keep anything alive.
Amy McGregor – Amy makes cushions, prints and lampshades in stunning woodland and floral prints.

Mairi Mcdonald – Eclectic and free-spirited luxury designs, Mairi’s work is high fashion whilst being drenched in subculture. Think high fashion witch or rock n roll queen.
Double Crossed Clothing – Feminist, gender neutral clothing. Double Crossed creates clothing for everyone; transgender, cis, and gender neutral. My favourite is definitely the feminist af t-shirt. They have also just released a gender-neutral kids t-shirt.
Squint – Handmade in Edinburgh Squint brings to mind the Harajuku girls of the early naughties, with their love of pastel colours and frills they are the perfect brand to brighten anyone’s Christmas Morning.
Rebecca Torres – Rebecca is the reigning queen of lycra and it only made sense that she move into swimwear. Highly patterned, colourful & flattering, this is a swimwear collection with something in it for everyone.
Yellow Bubble – An independent luxury knitwear brand based in Edinburgh. They create handmade, brightly coloured contemporary knitwear and accessories from a studio in the heart of Edinburgh.
Siobhan MacKenzie – Born and raised in The Black Isle in the Highlands of Scotland, Siobhan’s upbringing inspired her Graduate Collection and have remained a firm inspiration transcending throughout the brand. Creating contemporary kilts for everyday wear, bringing a little bit of heritage to everyday life.
Fictional Character – Fashion for the extrovert! All about mermaids, unicorns and dressing the way you want.
Ryan Kirk – Made in Glasgow in limited numbers Ryans designs offer a break from fast fashion monotony.
GRL CLB – Not just a store – a way of life “GRLCLB is for girls, boys, and everything in-between. GRLCLB is for the people who don’t belong anywhere else. GLRCLB is for the ones who get it.” Gender Neutral t-shirts, & sweaters made ethically.
Elizabeth Martin – Using Harris tweed, Egyptian Cotton, Satin and Silk Elizabeth creates timeless pieces that are a perfect addition to any wardrobe. I am obsessed with the Florrie Lace top!
Queene & Belle – Luxury Cashmere in colourful colours and fun prints.
Half Stitch Bitch – Feminist, Riot Grl clothing & accessories. This brand is not for the faint-hearted, make a statement in a rebel bitch patch or fuck the tories t-shirt this Christmas.
