SS14 – update your wardrobe

When it comes to the start of a season I like to relook at the catwalk shows, just to make sure I know where the trends are going, pick out my favourite pieces and buy some key things to season proof my wardrobe. Ive picked out my top five things I think are going to be massive this season… happy shopping

Lace – coloured/textured/panelled/embellished it was all over the catwalk, pastel and white were the top colours of the season but you still cant go wrong with a little black lace number. Keep lace to the bottom half or all over for an updated look.

Go Big or go Home was the ethos on print this season, worn head to toe or big bold prints. Everything from landscapes to polkadots on pretty much everything. If you only buy one thing this season buy an all over print jumper.

Details were key and most shows had some form of embellishment or texture. Self coloured texture and metal embellishments were the dish of the day, most being the focal point but hints on a collar or sleeve make a perfect nod to this trend.

Tartan, plaid and checks were still everywhere, this trend has no limits, pastel or more traditional colours, worn in a girly way or with a more punk edge the check is not going anywhere. A tartan Tshirt is the new wardrobe staple.

Don’t be afraid to be head to toe in colour, block your pop colours or go for all over pastel look, if your nervous about looking like someone has tried to turn you into rainbow brite go for a block colour dress and black accessories, but remember anything goes!
