Snowy mountains, misty lochs, hot tubs and ancient forests, getting away from it all has never been so enticing.
And I mean that when I say ‘getting away from it all’. Argyll Holidays is not only a beautiful holiday, it’s also a break from the modern world. The lodges are fully equipped with a beautiful lounge area, cosy rooms, cute kitchen and, most importantly, a hot tub. They may be lacking in any phone signal, wifi or TV but they make up for that in character! Just make sure you are prepared to have a digital detox.
The lodges are set to the backdrop of an ancient forest, beside Loch Goil and the village of Lochgoilhead. It’s about an hours drive from Glasgow through some mountains, called the Arrochar Alps, the scenery on the drive is breathtaking. You might even spot some deer or highland cows! Driving up there in snowy weather is no mean feat, so make sure you take your time and appreciate that you are driving over some beautiful mountains.
The surrounding area of Argyll is so beautiful that exploring is a must.
You have plenty to choose from! Fancy climbing a Monroe? You’ve got a choice of four! Or how about hiking up to stand on top of a huge dam?Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park is the perfect place to explore some of Scotlands wilderness. Most places we found were dog-friendly, so feel free to take your puppies on some amazing walks, and stop off for some pub grub on the way home!
There are plenty of places nearby to pop in for some food but we picked Slanj. It’s around a 20-minute drive from the lodges and well worth it. I was pleasantly surprised to find loads of veggie options on the menu, with some vegan ones too! After eating a very healthy portion of veggie haggis (when in Scotland right?) it was time to head back to the lodge for a night time dip in the hot tub.
It really doesn’t get better than sitting in a hot tub, underneath a starry sky. Thanks to Argyll Holidays for giving us a much-needed break away from it all.
