Wrapped up in Checks

statement coat
Did someone say statement coat?

Ever since I saw the Jil Sander Cocoon coat I knew one day I would get my hands on one worthy of the name “statement coat”. It may have taken me a few seasons but I finally managed to grab this Preen number in a Charity Shop, talk about a complete steal! I am fully behind vintage and thrift store shopping, it may take time to find something but when you do it will be s worth it.

Checks will always be one of my favourite patterns, they are completely classic but when they are done in the right way they can transform most pieces into something amazing, like an awesome statement coat. As it’s still winter the only option is to pop on a matching faux fur hat and collar, and yes they have to match, go big or go home people!

Dressing a statement coat is fairly easy, everything else just has to be understated, I’ve gone for a classic white shirt, GAP distressed jeans and cream boots. My bag is easily one of my favourite things, I feel like Mary Poppins as it fits pretty much my house in it, including the kitchen sink! You can’t go wrong with a pastel bag, it’s versatile and oh so cute. I’m not saying you should throw your old trusty bags out, just invest in a good quality bag in colours to suit your wardrobe. So will you be having a look in your local Vintage/Thrift stores for any of your dream pieces?
