Accessories can make or break an outfit.
“Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take at least one thing off.” The incredible Coco Chanel made that statement and I am inclined to disagree. Luckily she also said “My jewels represent an idea, first and foremost! I wanted to cover women with constellations”, and whilst we may not be able to cover ourselves in Chanels finest we can damn well make sure we make a statement with our accessories.
Accessories can make a statement without you having to say a word, whether it’s a cute pair of statement earrings, a novelty handbag, a pair of square framed glasses or a marble faced watch. With the rise of statement handbags and the resurgence of Pat Butcher style earrings, there is something out there for everyone looking to up their accessory game!
Remember these rules when picking your accessories
Less is Not More
Seriously no one ever made a dramatic statement with a dainty necklace and some plain earrings. Rock a chandelier earring or some stacked bracelets! Think Anna Dello Russo meets Iris Apfel and you are onto a winner.
Mix Opulent with Casual
Accessories can transform an outfit from cute to art. If you feel like your outfit it lacking something, don’t get changed! Throw on some accessories and make a statement out of it, just remember to be confident in your choices.
I love matching my outfits, from picking out a trim colour and matching all of my accessories to it. Or colour blocking my entire ensemble I really am happiest when accessorising!
Go Big Or Go Home isn’t just a statement, it’s a life mantra. From Tassel earrings and wicker bags, to marble watches and glasses Garth from Waynes World would be proud of. It’s all about making a statement. And there’s no better way to do this than with some carefully chosen accessories.
