New years resolutions and why 2016 is a pretty big year

I’ve never been one to make New Year resolutions, not specific ones anyway, because I just end up breaking them so this year I have decided to make a few little resolutions, that way it should be a little harder for me to break them plus this year is a bit of a biggie.

I’m turning 30…30…I’m sure I was 25 like 5 minutes ago! The big 30 terrifies me a little to be honest, I thought I would be much more together by now, maybe live in another country, but I’m definitely feeling a bit lost. I know it’s just a number but it does have some big connotations, I guess it’s seen as the first major birthday after the big 21 (which doesn’t seem big at all now!), so with this pretty major event looming I thought I would make some resolutions I actually want to keep.

Be more positive – This is the big one, my anxiety has been pretty bad this year, coupled with a few other aspects it’s really affected my happiness. Being positive doesn’t come naturally to me so being mindful of my thoughts will hopefully lead to brighter days. I am going to try writing down three things I am thankful for each day as I know that’s a tried and tested exercise…fingers crossed!

Travel – This year we already have a trip to New York for a friends wedding, Vegas for my birthday (how else am I going to celebrate turning 30) and cornwall for another friends wedding! So basically 2016 is the year of weddings! I’ve written a travel wishlist so fingers crossed I get to add more places to my list.

See friends – With blogging full time you would think I would have all the time in the world to see my friends, truth be told going to events is lovely but they also take up quite a bit of my time and it’s usually my social life that suffers! I want to have cocktail parties, go dancing, have movie nights and go on girly holidays!

Turn my phone off one day of the week – I love my job, I love it so much but when you work for yourself it’s hard to know when to turn off. I start work as soon as I wake up at 7am and sometimes don’t switch my laptop off till the early hours of the morning, my husband is the same so we have decided together that one day a week we will switch off from work and spend it in the moment…we have yet to agree on which day it will be so we will see how long that lasts! Or if it even gets started!

So there you have it, my little life changes that will hopefully make for a better and brighter 2016. What are your New Year resolutions?

Phone free day sounds like a great idea darling. I’m with you!
    I say,
As I type this comment on my phone…
Are you going to do full tech free?

Love the idea of a phone free day, been trying to encourage my boyfriend to not have our phones in the bedroom as you never go straight to sleep!! Also really interesting to read you suffer with anxiety (which I do), it’s a hard and very random thing to deal with. Loving the camera too! xx
