Culottes have never been an item I thought I would own.
In fact, I’ve still never bought a pair of culottes. These were actually a pair of palazzo pants that I cropped, and the idea wasn’t even mine…it was my mums! When I bought the trousers they were a little long, so I went to my mums as my sewing machine is still there, and when we were talking about taking them up she suggested culottes…and I thought why the hell not? I’m all for trying new things and my mum is usually right.
I really love the wide leg these give and thankfully they are as far from pedal pushers as possible (remember them?!), the fabric is light weight so they sit really nicely, and they are high waisted so give the illusion of a bit of an hour glass figure. I have to admit I struggled a little with what to wear them with, boots was a given although a pair of trainers would look cute too, but what to wear on top? I must have tried about seven different jumpers on, none of them worked at all, girls who wear culottes and jumpers tell me how you do it! So I opted for a denim shirt from the new Gap collection, I love the denim and navy combo and I definitely think this will be one of my go to summer looks.
