I love Autumn, the leaves on the ground, the bright mornings and the addition of spiced lattes to my morning routine. There is nothing I love more than bundling myself up in layers and walking around in the crisp Autumn air.
It’s hard to choose my favourite thing about Autumn, the boots, the knitwear, all the hats, but for me it has to be layers. Layering for me is second nature, trust me growing up in Scotland you need your layering game on year round just incase a 30 degree summer day turns into 5 degrees with freezing rain (happens all the time), but weather in Autumn seems to be fairly standard, cold and sunny with the streets covered in crisp fallen leaves, it makes dressing so much easier!
Picking out light items is key, sure you can layer three jumpers but your going to look like a giant teddy bear! I have been a fan of double denim since the 90’s and layering a vintage shirt over ripped jeans is an easy combo. Add in a slouchy grey tshirt and your on to a winning combo, now for the pièce de résistance…the lightweight coat! I love the length of this boohoo coat, ankle grazing with amazing side splits plus it has 3/4 length sleeves so it’s perfect for wearing over full length sleeved shirts and jumpers.
Don’t for one second think that a lightweight coat is not going to see you through colder months. Just pop it on under your coat for an extra layers of insulation! Wear around the office over a knitted dress or roll neck jumper for a chic way to keep warm over winter and when it starts to get a little warmer in spring you can bump it back up to your main outerwear with a little vintage leather underneath for some cute contrasting.
