Indoor picnic’s and perfect dresses

July 21, 2015
There’s something so romantic about picnics. It’s a combination of the cute mini finger food, the hint to a lost era and the tea dresses! One of the most romantic things that ever happened to me was a surprise moonlit picnic, I still remember how cold it was but I also remember being snuggled up, wrapped in the blanket we were meant to be sitting on and sharing tea and little sandwiches. Perfect.

I arranged to have a picnic with my best girl but the weather gods were not on our side so we opted for an indoor picnic/tea party.

How awesome is the flamingo candle holder? I think it’s the main attraction, apart from all the cake obviously. The crockery is all from the Butterfly range by Matthew Williamson, it matches my mint room perfectly don’t you think? And I’m so in love with the wicker picnic basket, I love the vintage fold opening and the fact it fits everything plus the kitchen sink!

We decided since we were stuck indoors we would use flowers and candles to make it a little more fragrant, after all fragrance can evoke memories & spark emotions. As Elizabeth Taylor said “The beauty of fragrance is that it speaks to your heart”. With that in mind, I picked scents and flowers I love, Roses, watermelon and coconut all take centre stage, what better scents to transport you to a garden paradise?

A picnic is never complete without the right dress. I opted for full-on strawberry dream in a classic halterneck shape. The attention to detail on the dress is so perfect, the front can either be folded down to create a two-tone effect or it can be left up, it also has a cute little structured belt and a full underskirt. Nikki went for the classic little black dress with a twist, off the shoulder and super figure-hugging, as they say; don’t fix it if it ain’t broken!

This was the perfect indoor picnic date with my best girl, cocktails, cake, pretty dresses and all of the laughs. I thoroughly recommend doing something a little different like a picnic or a tea party, it’s much more intimate than a night out and your pretty dress will still be seen by the only people who’s opinion on your outfit matters! Just don’t spill the sugar.

Love!! I also have a picnic hamper in this style and am dying to use it. As we now live in Scotland, you've inspired me with the indoor picnic! Ha! Plus who needs an excuse to buy pretty crockery, flowers and candles 🙂 X
