Spring is all about dressing in pursuit of summer. Unfortunately in the UK spring doesn’t necessarily mean an improvement in the weather. So how do you style the spring trends without freezing to death?
It’s all about creative layering and choosing your fabrics carefully. I’ve picked my top 5 trends for this spring with some handy tips on how to incorporate them into your wardrobe, without breaking the bank or losing a toe to frostbite.
The more the better! This seasons hottest trend can be incorporated into every outfit, from frills on your shoes, your shirt or your jacket. My favourite way to wear ruffles has to be on knitwear, buy something a little oversized and it’s perfect for layering.
The Colour of the season is undoubtedly pink and there are limitless ways to incorporate it into your wardrobe. Wear pastel shades mixed with fuschia for an indepth look or go for a full tonal took, pink shades of everything! If you are a little unsure of wearing too much pink then go for a pink pair of boots, perfect for making a statement!
Think statement glasses, layered belts, stacked jewellery & hats for days. The more the better! Sunglasses are an easy way to make an impact fast, go for unusual shapes or bright colours. Kirk & Kirk stock some great styles, the pair I have on are called Amanda (cute coincidence right?!) and come in a variety of colours but the purple has to be my favourite.
Wear a block heel in every style you can find, loafer, pump, boot, not only are they comfier than a stiletto (seriously who even pretends they are comfy anymore?), and the trend is going nowhere so it’s a good investment. I’m loving a shorter heel at the moment & these Miss Garcia heels are a great addition to my shoedrobe!
Now this is my favourite trend of the season, big sleeves are EVERYWHERE. I’m loving the thick knit jumpers with bell sleeves, I’m planning on buying one in every colour! Wear with jeans and loafers for a easy day look or pair with a cute neckscarf, pencil skirt & block heeled boots for a night out, wear all pastel colours for some extra fashion brownie points.
