Nestled down a little cobbled street in London lies a hidden gem.
MalMaison London is the perfect example that a chain hotel can feel like a boutique experience. From the Lobby to the bedrooms no corner is overlooked, even the elevator area is decorated with stunning scenic wallpaper, tables covered in magazines & floor length mirrors (to check your outfit one last time before you leave) and it’s this attention to detail that makes MalMaison a cut above the rest.
The rooms are plush but not over bearing, the exposed lighbulbs against the printed wallpaper create a nice contrast and don’t even get me started on the bed! Compared to sleeping on a cloud I think the bed at Mal would win. You seriously need to try it to believe it. Black out curtains make it possible to sleep all day long (why you would want to in London is beyond me but the possibility is there), the noise outside is minimal due to location so you won’t be woken up by late night revellers or commuters in the morning, perfect for a good nights sleep.
Funnily enough the beds aren’t what makes Mal London so special, it’s the attentiveness of the staff and the general hotel atmosphere. The staff go above & beyond at every opportunity, and breakfast is no different! I had a bit of an issue with the menu for breakfast as I’m a Vegetarian who can’t eat eggs, and since all of the savoury dishes were egg based I was left with pancakes…which isn’t a bad choice but not what I was looking for before a long day in London. I asked the waitress if I could just have the eggs florentine sans eggs, safe to say she was a little confused but after I explained she said the chef would make something up. To be honest I wasn’t expecting much, maybe some mushrooms, but when breakfast was served I was pleasantly surprised! Marinated fried tomatoes, garlic salt avocado & toast with some portobello mushrooms nestled under a bed of spinach & hollandaise, I couldn’t have asked for a better breakfast if I’d tried.
So what are you waiting for? The best sleep you will ever have is just a few clicks away.
