When it comes to skin care I am pedantic, obsessive, a perfectionist.
I check meticulously for any nasties that might be hidden in the ingredients lists, I google something if I don’t know what it is and I do not leave the house without moisturiser on. EVER.
You may think thats all a little extreme but we only have one skin, and I’d rather keep mind looking as good as possible for as long as possible. Even if that means painstakingly researching a company (and it’s parent company if it has one) before putting it on my face.
The easiest place to start is the beginning, I have sensitive skin, prone to redness but not really outbreaks of spots, although those still happen from time to time and are still a mighty pain in the ass. I mean spots, REALLY?!
This cleanser from Murad is gentle, whilst still waking your skin up. It doesn’t make skin feel tight after a wash and thats a massive plus for me. Use a tiny amount and lather onto the skin, always make sure you rinse well and give your face a splash of cold water at the end, it helps to waken the skin (and you) up.
I’m pretty new to serums but this baby from Murad is perfect, I can actually feel it cooling and calming my skin when it first goes on, I always try and wait a minute or two before putting on my moisturiser. A tiny amount is needed but if I’m not wearing make up I’ll put more on and let it sink in for longer before moisturising.
The Napiers ever day cream is great for soothing and nourishing, I use it as an everyday moisturiser and it sits brilliantly under make up without a primer, although I really don’t recommend skipping a primer if you are going to wear make up. Use a pea size amount and it’ll be enough for your face and neck.
Rose cream from Dr Hauschka is a miracle in a bottle (which I really need to buy more of), I use this on days when my skin feels particularly sensitive, like after a night out, or if i’ve been out in the elements all day. It can feel heavy and oil separation is common but don’t worry, it’s not going to make you break out! I always wait at least 5 minutes before I put any make up on after using this as it does take a while to sink in. It also smells divine.
I love an under eye moisturiser, I think it really wakes the skin up! I keep mine on the windowsill so it’s a little cold, I did try keeping it in the fridge but that was just far too cold for me. Pat some under the eye and on the brow bone.
